Dr. Elaine Chew joined
Monash University Sunway Campus in 2007. She has previously
held leadership and academic positions at Universiti Tunku
Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and a Visiting Research Fellow at Tokyo
University of Science, Japan. Among the subjects taught at
postgraduate level are Strategic Human Resource Management,
Strategic Management and International Business.
In 2008, she was awarded as principal investigator of two
e-Science competitive grants from Ministry of Science,
Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia. One research
grant examines the Malaysian business investment in China
with collaborators, Ken Low and Ng Lee Peng of UTAR.
Another research grant is in collaboration with Prof. Dr.
Makoto Anazawa, Otaru University of Commerce, which
investigates the benefits and effectiveness of various
support programs and mechanism in enhancement of regional
competitiveness of automotive industry. These research
projects receive continuous support from both local and
foreign government. She is also a collaborator with Prof.
Dr. Makoto Anazawa in a competitive grant from Japan that
examines globalization of Malaysian multinationals. During
her government-sponsored PhD study at Nagoya University, Dr.
Elaine Chew was awarded the prestigious Japanese Society of
HRM Young Scholar Award 2006 in recognition for research
excellence in strategic human resource management.
Her areas of research interest are cross-border business
venture, strategic human resource management, and
organizational behaviours. Dr. Elaine Chew has published in
refereed international journals.
