Summer School at Monash University Sunway Campus 2009/2010

UNITS OFFERED

Students are only allowed to choose one of the options below.

OPTION 1

The following units are offered:

Group B (Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 15th December 2009 to 26th January 2010)

MKW1120 Marketing theory and practice

MKW1601 Introduction to e-Business

ECW2731 Managerial economics

AFW1310 Introduction to Islamic banking and finance

OPTION 2

The following units are offered:

Group A (Mondays to Thursdays, 10th December 2009 to 31st December 2009)

MKW2402 Consumer behaviour

Group B (Mondays to Thursdays, 4th January 2010 to 25th January 2010)

MGW2351 International business

Please note that enrolment is on a first-come first-serve basis. Students can enrol in a maximum of TWO units during the summer session (one from each group). Kindly check the availability of units with the School of Business Course Management Office.

Students are encouraged to enrol and make payment early to secure a place.

ENROLMENT

Enrolment for summer will commence on the 1st September 2009.

Web enrolment for summer semester is NOT available. All enrolments have to be done manually at the School of Business, Course Management Office, Building 6 Level 4 Monash University, Sunway campus.

DISCONTINUATION DATES

To drop a unit, you must complete the Enrolment Amendment Form and submit it to the School of Business. The form is available at the School of Business, Building 6 Level 4 at Monash University, Sunway campus.

 

 

Last day to discontinue a unit without academic and financial penalty:

 

21st December 2009

 

Any unit discontinued after this date will incur fee liability. Partial fees will be refunded and the unit will be shown as “Discontinued” on your academic record.

 

 

Last day to discontinue a unit WITH academic and financial penalty:

 

28th December 2009

 

Any unit discontinued after this date will incur academic and financial penalty.

There will be No refund of fees and the unit will be shown as “Fail” on your academic record.

 

Unit cancellations/changes to unit offerings

Every effort will be made to ensure that the units offered will be run; however units may be cancelled up to one week prior to the commencement of the Summer Semester if there are insufficient enrolments or other unforeseen circumstances. If a unit is cancelled, all students enrolled will be advised in writing prior to the commencement of the Summer Semester. In addition, all students will be automatically withdrawn from that unit.

HOW TO ENROL

Monash University, Sunway campus students

Monash University, Sunway campus students

Closing date for Monash University Sunway campus students:

Step 1: Complete the Enrolment Amendment Form

Step 2: Students from other schools/faculties are required to seek advice and approval from respective Course Managers. Course Managers MUST approve and sign-off on the Enrolment Amendment Form

Step 3: Submit the Enrolment Amendment Form to the School of Business

Step 4: Fee invoice will be issued upon submitting the Enrolment Amendment Form to the School of Business. Students are required to make payment by the specified date as stated on the fee invoice. Your summer enrolment will be automatically discontinued if payment is not received by the specified date

Step 5: Check WES for confirmation of enrolment.

Monash University, Australia and South Africa campus students

All students must seek course advice and faculty approval from their home campus for units they wish to enrol at Sunway to ensure no disruptions to their course progression.

Business and Economics students are encouraged to consider completing part of their degree at Sunway campus: The Sunway campus offers more than 160 units across four faculties which provide a wide array of complimentary study opportunities for business students. Complimentary study and participation in Cross Campus and Study Abroad programs provide business students with important opportunities to broaden their CV's and distinguish themselves in the graduate job market.

Subject to the requirements of your course and unit availability, you may choose cross-faculty electives as part of your degree program. You will need to discuss your options first with the host faculty, and then with the Faculty Student Services office on your home campus as cross-faculty enrolment is not available via WES.

All students from Australian and South African campuses who want to participate in the Summer School must complete a Monash Abroad application form. The form must be signed by faculty student services staff on your home campus and returned to the Monash Abroad office on the Clayton campus (address on the form) with the supporting documents. Most students, except those who are Malaysian citizens, will be eligible for a Monash Abroad travel grant. Monash Abroad will advise whether you are eligible and, if so, pay your grant into your Australian or South African bank account before the Summer School begins. Information about the travel grants can be found on the Monash Abroad website.

Students are required to attach the following to facilitate the application for student pass/visa.

a) 6 passport-size colour photograph (3.5cm x 5cm- Head Size: 2.5cm x 3cm)

b) 1 full and clear copies of ALL pages of passport only on A4 size paper (single sided, 2 pages in a page with NO enlargement or shrink size; it has to be in actual size of the passport) including the blank pages

c) Current passport validity must not be less than 12 months from application submission date.

 

Closing date for Monash University, Australian and South African campuses students:

1st October 2009 (Non-Malaysians)

13th November 2009 (Malaysians)

 

Step 1: Complete the Summer at Monash University Sunway Campus Application Form and Monash Abroad application form

Step 2: Obtain approval from respective Course Coordinator from your home department/faculty

Step 3: Return Monash Abroad application form and the relevant documents required for the Student Pass application (refer to point (a) & (b))

Step 4: Fax the “Summer at Monash University Sunway campus Application Form” and a copy of your Malaysian Identity card or passport information page only for Non-Malaysian to the School of Business at fax number +603- 5514 6192

Step 5: Monash University, Sunway campus will inform the student (via e-mail) if the enrolment for the unit is already full. The student will be placed on a “waiting list” and will be informed via email if a place has been made available

If application is successful, Monash University, Sunway campus will enrol the student. Students can check WES for confirmation of enrolment. Information on fees will be enclosed in the Summer offer letter. Students must accept their offers by the given deadline in the offer letter or else enrolment will be discontinued.

Non-Monash University students (MALAYSIAN only) – Cross Institutional Application

 

Closing date for non - Monash University students:

13th November 2009

 

If you are a student at another University/Institution, you may apply to study unit(s) at Monash University, Sunway campus

Step 1: Obtain approval from your home University/Institute for the unit(s) you wish to enrol at Monash University, Sunway campus

Step 2:Complete the Cross Institutional Application Form (Summer) also available at School of Business, Course Management Office

Step 3: Send the “Cross Institutional Application Form (Summer)” and the relevant documents to the address as stated on the form

Step 4: Monash University , Sunway campus will inform the student (via e-mail) if the enrolment for the unit is already full. The student will be placed on a “waiting list”. If application is successful, information on fees will be enclosed in the Summer offer letter.
